In Niger, the RN7 highway serves as a vital road that supports national and regional commerce. But, it has fallen into disrepair. The highway’s deteriorating condition has led to frequent breakdowns that slow traffic and stifle flow of goods throughout the country.
Our Solution & Impact
The Government of Niger has partnered with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to begin reconstruction of one of the roughest sections of the RN7. Once the rehabilitation of this section is complete, travel time will be reduced from 10 hours to just two. The rehabilitation project is part of the larger $437 million MCC-Niger Compact. This compact supports Niger’s agriculture sector by aiding projects that help small-scale agriculture dependent families, perform road maintenance, and develop finance systems that allow Niger’s agriculture sector to grow.
