Africa, the world’s largest wood consumer, is facing a wood supply crisis that is causing demand to spike. Komaza, an American incorporated and Kenya-based forestry company, works with smallholder farmers to plant, grow, and harvest trees in a sustainable way.
Komaza sought support in scaling up its services to reach more farmers and empower them to address this environmental crisis head on.
Our Solution & Impact
Thanks to Prosper Africa transaction advisory support funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Komaza raised about $30 million in equity. This investment will allow the company to scale its business across East Africa, expand its existing partnership with over 25,000 smallholder farmers, upgrade its wood processing facilities, and contribute to its goal of planting one billion trees by 2030.
